Our children will be smarter, our world a better place... or so we believe...Certain aspects of life (ie. a personal relationship) have become more difficult and distant by often reducing communications to - email, text messaging, etc. I agree it's easy, saves time, saves trees, saves fossil fuels and is helpful in our planetary concerns, however, I believe generally our technologies have made us (people) spend more and more time alone and distant, loosing the old fashioned sense of family and community. We spend less time with each other and more time with our technologies. Our communication skills have changed, I believe it is for the worse. They have been been reduced to:-Snippets.-Delayed responses.-More alone time.-Miscommunication due to lack of "real time" interaction. -Skewed emotional interpretation because often tone and intent are lost in the written word in cyberland- to just name a few.I know these technologies are supposed to make life easier, better, more convenient but do they truly benefit us within the personal relationships we desperately need for our happiness? I believe that a non-timed (due to eating up of cellular minutes) phone call, if you must or better yet, an old fashioned face to face interaction/discussion is so much better for the heart, the mind and the spirit. Relationships (and I am referring to personal ones in particular) truly work best when communication is not based on technology alone or even primarily. We are people who desperately need others to thrive, for happiness, and for fulfillment the old fashioned way (and no, there was no sexual innuendo intended there.)
The bottom line is- it's all about people having personal interactions the old fashioned way!
