I will never forget this day...

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/September_11_attacks [en.wikipedia.org/wiki/September_11_attacks]

I have seen lots of documentaries and remember the day clearly late one evening, early morning. Still shocked by the event :(

I wonder how the families of lost ones are coping, how the people who work in the area are getting on with there lives?

Any New Yorkers here, or people who have visited the site? Care to share your experiences, thoughts.

what the photos don't show is the dreadful silence

these photos took me back to the day in a way i haven't been before... when i got to the street from the one park avenue building, i joined an endless crowd walking away from ground zero. the crowd was quiet. strangers were asking questions of one other. it was courteous. people were crying. the taste of the dust cloud was in our mouths. there were no cars, no taxis, no buses, no police. the bridges connecting manhattan with the rest of the world were closed. the train stations were closed. only occasionally would a cellphone call go through. once in a while, we would turn around and look at the dust cloud. i think we all assumed there was more to come. i'm sure i am not the only one who wondered what we were walking toward...
